Elaine  Chiggers...I wonder why the doctor and nurse were laughing...it wasn't like they were coming back to say "crabs..." but I digress!! ;) LOL! Never heard of them! (Now I've jinxed myself! I know it!!!)  Jun 6, 2009 ~ 11:06am
Veronika Duty  Here are my two cents (recommendation from a fire man) for anything itchy, such as chiggers, ant bites, jelly fish, poison oak, etc. Take A HOT (I mean as hot as you can handle) shower. Use dish soap (to cut the grease, most bite things are oil based). Wash and rinse. Repeat as often as needed. Cured my major problem within 5 minutes. Good Luck! (the heat opens the pores, the soap gets the stuff out)  Jun 3, 2009 ~ 9:55pm
Becky Gallup  I'm finding the steriod cream to be the most helpful. I had so-so results with the clear nail polish. My Mom says the Calahist (clear) is working for her. :-)  Jun 3, 2009 ~ 9:26pm
Rachel Logan  Seriously, Matt, this is still making me laugh and it is hilarious how similar our stories are. I had the flash light out at 3AM scouring the sheets and blaming the dog... So funny.  Jun 3, 2009 ~ 7:34pm
Matt Nicolosi  I'm actually trying the nail polish thing now. Should I have used clear? [kidding]. Amber, you're idea intrigues me, but them I'm afraid I'd be wearing the dog like an accessory as she tries to lick all the grease off me. Heck, I love bacon... I might even join her.  Jun 3, 2009 ~ 4:15pm
Amber V  So you weren't raised in the south I take it? LOL! I was pretty much a walking chiggar bite every summer from the age of 5 on. Forget about clear nail polish and anti-itch creme. Solidified bacon grease applied as a salve is your only hope for relief. Yes I know it sounds nasty, but it works and I'm sure by this point you are just miserable enough to try it.  Jun 3, 2009 ~ 3:52pm
Ralph Grant  Chiggers have always regarded the flesh on my feet and ankles as being a feast fit for a king. Looks like another accessory for the camera bag is some Jungle Juice (100% DEET) http://www.rei.com/product/738782 There isn't a Chiggar out there that likes that stuff. Now a true test of your photographic genius would be to photograph one of the little suckers!  Jun 3, 2009 ~ 3:10pm
Melinda  Clear nail polish over the bite will stop the itching. No joke...  Jun 3, 2009 ~ 2:24pm
Heather  Never heard of chiggers before...and that's a good thing! Hope you get some good treatment, I suppose buckets of ice water would probably feel nice...for a few seconds anyway :-  Jun 3, 2009 ~ 11:58am
Erick  Hey Matt, Sorry about the Chiggers. Funny thing is when I was kid playing in the woods in Jax, FL. it was never my ankles that were the "problem areas". Consider yourself fortunate that they didn't make it above the knees. Clear nail polish was always my mom's solution.  Jun 3, 2009 ~ 10:26am
nancy  Sorry Matt, I've been offering free chiggers, plus mosquitos, with recent outdoor photo sessions! You'll have to find another way to set yourself apart!!! By the way, did you find a good cream to heal them? Love your image of the boys!  Jun 3, 2009 ~ 10:14am
