Matt Nicolosi  @ Jenny. I used my light meter to take an ambient reading of the sky and then used an off-camera flash (Nikon SB-800) with a 20x20 Larson softbox attached to it to provide the light on the family. I put the flash in manual mode and then used my light meter again to take a couple readings of the flash adjusting the power output of the flash each time until it was one stop greater than the background. My assistant was holding the flash camera left at about a 45 degree angle to subjects. Hope that helps!  Jan 19, 2009 ~ 9:34am
