City Shoot - The Rest of the Story
WHAT: Engagements, Portraits, Project 365 (2009)   |   WHEN: March 24, 2009
As promised, here's a follow up to yesterday's post of Justin & Hayley. Here's a few more of my favorites from our shoot in downtown Dallas yesterday.

This one was a bit of a misfire, but I actually liked the way it turned out. Ahh... serendipity.

This one we added a little fill light with an off-camera flash with a 20x20" softbox.

We were just glad the alarm on this police car didn't go off when they touched it. We were prepared to run.

A variation of the image above. I shot almost this exact same pose for another couple quite awhile ago, but I just love how effortless and GQ Justin and Hayley looked. TIna and I were also experimenting here a bit and added a little off-camera flash to get a little more dramatic feel on this one.

Love this image of Hayley looking at Justin.

There ya have it. Thanks, Hayley and Justin, for indulging us on this just-for-fun camera play time. And thanks, Tina, for doing all the legwork to make this happen. It felt great to just get out for fun and experiment and try some new things, and I look forward to doing it again soon!

Day 79 ~ City Shoot
WHAT: Engagements, Portraits, Project 365 (2009)   |   WHEN: March 23, 2009
My friend and rising photography star Tina and I went down town for a little just-for-fun session late this afternoon just to try some new things out and experiment a little. She solicited and secured a couple models, namely Hayley and Justin, a recently married super-fun couple (Hayley works with Tina) that agreed to meet us down town after driving back from Austin for the weekend. I'm not sure they knew what they were getting themselves into, but I hope they had half as much fun as Tina and I did.

I'll post more on these two in the next day or two, but lemme tell ya now, we got some rockin' images of them. Here's just one little one to wet your palette.

The Gallery Shop is Now Open!
WHAT: News   |   WHEN: March 21, 2009

I've had many people ask how they could purchase some of the images I've taken during my travels. Well, wait no more. Thanks to the great folks over at SmugMug, I'm excited to announce that you can now shop 'til your hearts content and purchase some new decor for your home or pick up a unique, custom photography print for a gift for someone special.

What are you waiting on? Head on over to the Matt Nicolosi Photographic Art Gallery Shop and check out the galleries from Italy, Seattle, Berlin, Boston, and a collection of nostalgic images I'm calling Americana. I'm still working on a few details and I'll be adding more images, galleries and products in the future, so check back often.

Day 78 ~ Hooray for the In-Laws
WHAT: Project 365 (2009), Random   |   WHEN: March 21, 2009

Kylie's parents are coming up on a pretty cool milestone in a few days... 30 years of marriage! It's a pretty big deal in these times, and we're proud of both Garry & Tina for their dedication, faithfulness and support they've shown each other and for the example they've set for Kylie & I. Tina has always wanted to go to the Grand Canyon, so Kylie and her brother Bryce (in the background in the photo above) got all stealthy and planned and paid for a trip for them to the Canyon (as I like to call it) for their anniversary.

Yep, they planned the itinerary, booked and paid for the airfare, hotels and car, and even contacted Garry & Tina's bosses to let them in on the game and schedule the time off... all without their mom and dad suspecting a thing. Pretty cool deal, isn't it?

Bryce has a MacBook, so we used video iChat to tell Kylie's parents the news. Ain't technology grand? Seriously, it really is an amazing thing that we could "be there" to tell them. Video conferencing is something I only saw when watching the Jetson's when I was a kid, and to think it's a relatively ubiquitous tool that anybody can use now is pretty spectacular. The photo above is from just after they found out.

Congratulations again, Garry and Tina! We love you and hope you have an amazing trip. Take a few pictures along the way, would ya?

Day 77 ~ Laws of K-9 Society
WHAT: Dogs, Fun, Project 365 (2009)   |   WHEN: March 21, 2009
Remarkably similar to civilian law, actually. It's simple. Do the crime, do the time.
